Timothy A. Miller founded the Law Office of Timothy A. Miller P.C. in 2010 after having practiced business law and civil litigation in the Rockford area for over 18 years.
Born and raised in Freeport, Illinois, Tim graduated from Aquin Central Catholic High School in Freeport. He subsequently attended and graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors, and the University of Alabama, School of Law, where he was awarded his Juris Doctor degree.Prior to his return to northern Illinois in 1992, Tim commenced his practice of law in western New York State for four years primarily focusing on: personal injury litigation; serving as a Court Appointed Attorney protecting children involved in abuse and neglect cases as well as custody matters; drafting and arguing both civil and criminal appeals before the 4th Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court; and serving as the Examiners Of Reports Of Guardians, Committees And Conservators, by way of an appointment made by the 4th Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court.
Tim is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Illinois and is a member of numerous professional associations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Winnebago County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Wisconsin. He has been a speaker at many Winnebago County Bar Association sponsored legal education seminars, presenting on: the recently enacted Illinois Supreme Court Rules of Professional Conduct; the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act; Collection/Commercial Litigation; Mortgage Foreclosures; and Landlord/Tenant Law.
In addition to having experience in a broad range of legal matters and serving as a Mentor Attorney in the 17th Judicial Circuit Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program, Tim was trained and certified as a Mediator for another Illinois Supreme Court pilot project, the Court-Annexed Small Claims Mediation Program. He has also served as a Board Member and Chairman of the Crusader Clinic Health Association and as a Member of the Rockford Lutheran Schools Association Board.
Besides his interests in the law and helping others, Tim enjoys: learning and reading about history and philosophy, especially anything involving Abraham Lincoln; technology; baseball; and sitting in the bleachers with his wife, Linda, watching whatever sport their daughters might be involved in at the time.
